Specialty Services - Clinical Nutrition

The canine and feline nutrition program offers the following services for pet owners:

  • Evaluation of feeding plans and commercial diets for healthy pets
  • Nutritional recommendations for growth, maintenance, reproduction, working, and special needs of young, adult, and senior pets
  • Customized plans for weight loss
  • Evaluation and formulation of home recipes for owners who wish to prepare their own pet diets
  • Information and education on the pet food industry and current issues including:
    • Commercial diets
    • Supplements
    • Nutraceuticals
    • Alternative diets such as raw feeding, organic, grain-free, etc.

Consultations are available by phone, fax (573)884-7563, e-mail, mail, or by appointment at the VMTH. There is no charge for general questions or brief consults. Fees are assessed for written consult requests.
