Research emphasis:

• Primary research area: The investigation of photodynamic therapy for the treatment of periocular tumors in horses.
• Research interests to date have included a combination of clinically applicable projects and an applied basic science focus on ocular morphology/pathology and clinical trials. Basic research has focused on conjunctiva-associated lymphoid tissues and its implications to ocular immunity as well as murine models for equine periocular squamous cell carcinoma. Clinical research interests have included canine and equine ocular neoplasms and treatment, photodynamic therapy, drug delivery systems for the equine patient, advances in phacoemulsification, canine anterior segment (dry eye, cataracts) and posterior segment (heritable retinal disease) abnormalities.
