Research emphasis:

Dr. Dodam’s research has focused on the cardiopulmonary alterations associated with endotoxemia. Study of the contribution of cellular, lipid, and protein mediators important to the pathophysiology of the inflammatory response included investigation of the role of endothelial cells and macrophages in inflammation. This, in turn, has led to study of the intracellular signal transduction pathways in these cells. Because many of the same cellular pathways are involved in the processing of pain signals and the alteration of consciousness associated with surgery and anesthesia, he has begun to investigate their role in nociception and analgesia.
